An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our company as a self-employed Companion that provides a high standard of domiciliary care in Peterborough and the Fenland area. We are looking for enthusiastic caring people that have an empathetic and genuine caring nature. We aim to assist people so that they can remain independent and obtain a good quality of life for as long as possible within their own homes. We do not provide personal care.

Duties and responsibilities

We provide help inside of the home such as general household chores, meal preparation, making and changing bedding, and laundry. Loneliness is a big problem for some people, so we offer a listening ear, company to play a game of cards or just time to have a good chat over a cup of tea.

We provide assistance for people outside of the home, which may include: a visit to a coffee shop, garden centre or restaurant. Activities such as walking in parks or woodlands areas. Tasks may include accompanying a person to a hospital, doctors or dental appointment, or it could be to accompany them with their shopping or to do their shopping for them.

 

Essential criteria:

  • Good communication skills. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written

  • To be honest, reliable, punctual and adaptable to meet the service users needs

  • Caring and empathetic having a genuine interest in people

  • A willingness to learn and expand your knowledge base and skill set with our in-house training programme

  • Common sense and the ability to remain calm and use problem solving skills if conditions or situations change

  • Ability to drive with a car and a driving licence

 

Desired criteria

  • Experience and qualifications in adult social care

Benefits

Travel expenses for mileage incurred when working with a service user.

Salary

£10.18 - 14 per hour
